"Bloodborne PC Emulation Achieves Near-Stable 60 FPS"

Digital Foundry's Thomas Morgan conducted a thorough evaluation of Bloodborne on the ShadPS4 emulator, focusing on the performance and technical enhancements achieved by the modding community. For his tests, Morgan utilized the ShadPS4 0.5.1 build developed by diegolix29, which is based on the custom branch crafted by raphaelthegreat. This particular build proved to be the most effective when tested on a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor and a GeForce RTX 4080 GPU.

Morgan highlighted the necessity of the Vertex Explosion Fix mod, which is crucial for eliminating visual artifacts such as stretched or misaligned polygons. Although this mod disables facial customization options at the start of the game, it effectively resolves these visual glitches. Importantly, no additional mods are needed as the emulator already integrates various enhancements. Users can access a dedicated menu to enable features like 60 fps support, upscale resolution to 4K, and turn off chromatic aberration.

Despite experiencing occasional stutters, Morgan observed that Bloodborne mostly maintained a smooth 60 fps. He also experimented with higher resolutions, including 1440p and 1800p, which enhanced image detail but led to performance degradation and more frequent crashes. Consequently, Morgan advises running Bloodborne on ShadPS4 at 1080p, mirroring the original PS4 settings, or at 1152p for a slight resolution boost without significant performance loss.

Morgan praised the ShadPS4 team's groundbreaking work in making PS4 emulation feasible, noting that while Bloodborne runs well on the emulator, it is not without its technical challenges. This achievement underscores the potential and ongoing advancements in the realm of console emulation.
