REPO

REPO's developers have unveiled exciting plans for the game's future, including a game-changing "duck bucket" to combat the dreaded duck menace. Read on to discover more about upcoming updates and the insightful feedback from the creator of Lethal Company.

REPO's First Update Details

The Duck Bucket: A New Weapon in the Fight Against Feathers

REPO

REPO's first update introduces a brand-new map and the much-anticipated "duck bucket," offering players a much-needed defense against the terrifying avian adversary. Semiwork Studios revealed these updates in a YouTube video on March 15th.

For the uninitiated, REPO is a thrilling online co-op horror game for up to six players. Teams must carefully extract valuable items from a terrifying world. Lurking in the shadows is The Apex Predator, a seemingly innocent yellow duck that transforms into a fearsome monster upon being damaged or picked up, attacking players for a terrifying ten seconds before reverting to its normal form.

The "duck bucket" provides a crucial solution, allowing players to safely trap the troublesome duck and prevent its terrifying transformations. This feature also helps prevent accidental activations by teammates. The update will also include enhanced facial expressions and other quality-of-life improvements.

"The Museum": A New Map and Public Lobbies on the Horizon

REPO

Semiwork Studios has also announced a new map, "The Museum," designed to challenge players' parkour skills. Extraction points will now feature visible borders, clearly indicating whether loot is within the extraction zone.

Responding to player feedback, the developers are also exploring the addition of public lobbies. They stated, "As an overwhelming majority seems fine with matchmaking where you can either host public or private, together with a kick button, that's what we'll be looking into. Adding a kick button might sound simple, but it involves server coding, a whole new area for us." While ambitious, this feature may take longer to implement.

Lethal Company Creator Weighs In on REPO

Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular co-op horror game Lethal Company, sharing similar mechanics and themes. On March 15th, Lethal Company creator Zeekers offered constructive criticism on Twitter (X), suggesting improvements for future updates.

Zeekers tweeted, "REPO is fun. At first I thought I didn't like it since I felt so slow (and voice chat range is too small!) But everyone in the group working together to move a grand piano through a cramped old mansion without scraping it--that is like the most funny objective for a horror game." He further elaborated in the comments, stating, "I'll probably post more thoughts on Patreon, but I think #1. Voice chat range needs increased, and the muffling is too much. #2. The levels with vast open space don't suit the game's design very well (similarly to Phasmophobia); it shines most in the cramped mansion layout."

Addressing concerns about silent enemy approaches, Zeekers added, "Yeah, there also needs to be an in-game way to learn about how enemies work, but I'm sure they're planning that."

R.E.P.O., currently the second best-selling game on Steam (behind Counter-Strike 2), has already achieved remarkable success, boasting over 230,645 concurrent players according to SteamDB—a figure approaching Lethal Company's all-time peak of 240,817 players.
