R.E.P.O Console Release Announced

*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that burst onto the scene in February, has captured the hearts of over 200,000 PC gamers. But what about console players? Are they going to get a chance to experience the thrill of *R.E.P.O.*? Here's the latest scoop on the game's potential console release.

Is R.E.P.O. Going to Come to Consoles?

Currently, *R.E.P.O.* remains exclusive to PC, and there's no indication that it will make its way to consoles anytime soon—or perhaps ever. The game's developer, semiwork, has not hinted at any plans for a console version. Instead, their focus remains firmly on refining the multiplayer experience on PC, where they've encountered a significant challenge.

The core issue they're tackling is enhancing the game's multiplayer mechanics, which are essential to *R.E.P.O.*'s gameplay. However, this process is complicated by the need to prevent the game from becoming a playground for cheaters. Semiwork has expressed concerns about implementing an anti-cheat system, which could disrupt the experience for players who enjoy using mods.

"The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you're ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don't work with an anti-cheat system. And we don't want that," the developer explained, as reported by PCGamer. This hurdle must be cleared before any thoughts of a console port can be entertained.

While some PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly themed games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which also involve sneaking past monsters, have stayed PC-only. The developers of *Content Warning* did mention considering a console release last year, but technical difficulties have kept them silent on the matter since.

So, will *R.E.P.O.* come to consoles? As it stands, semiwork has not shown any interest in pursuing a console version, prioritizing instead the improvement of the PC multiplayer experience.
