Monster Hunter Wilds: Unique Weapon Designs Revealed - IGN First

Author:Kristen Update:May 22,2025

The community's lukewarm response to the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World left fans curious about what to expect from Monster Hunter Wilds. While we've had glimpses of the new weapons, it's been difficult to form a comprehensive opinion on their design philosophy—until now. Director Yuya Tokuda has shed light on this topic, providing clarity and excitement for fans.

When discussing the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda stated: “Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design.”

This statement directly addresses the concerns from Monster Hunter: World, where many weapon lines ended up looking too similar, even in their most upgraded forms. For instance, the final aqua line Sword and Shield closely resembles the Pukei-Pukei Sword and Shield, and the final bone line Long Sword is nearly indistinguishable from the Jyuratodus Long Sword at the game's initial release.
