NetEase is launching an experimental feature designed to improve Marvel Rivals’ stability and reduce memory usage. According to an April 30 post on X (formerly Twitter), the upcoming Switch Shader Compilation Mode aims to deliver a smoother experience, particularly for players with limited RAM or frequent FPS issues.

A companion blog post on the official Marvel Rivals website elaborates on the new feature. The development team acknowledges player concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory consumption during gameplay.

The blog states, “To tackle memory overload, we’re introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. Once Season 2 launches, players can enable this option via the PC launcher.” This feature is especially recommended for users with 16GB of RAM or less.

When activated, the mode delivers the following improvements:

● Shader compilation occurs only upon first launching the game after a new update or graphics driver installation.
● Memory usage is significantly reduced, minimizing severe FPS drops, frozen screens, and crashes due to insufficient memory.

The developers have also highlighted a few known issues. For example, certain textures may render improperly during the initial moments of a match but normalize shortly afterward. Occasional stutters may also occur but typically resolve quickly.
