With the success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, fans are eagerly anticipating which Bethesda game will be next in line for a remaster. Speculation is rife that Fallout 3 could be the next title to receive this treatment, especially after leaks surfaced in 2023. Bruce Nesmith, a designer on Fallout 3, has highlighted areas where the game could be significantly enhanced, particularly in terms of gun combat.

PlayIn an interview with VideoGamer, Nesmith suggested that a *Fallout 3 Remastered* would feature shooting mechanics more akin to those in *Fallout 4*. He noted, "What did you see in *Fallout 4*? That will tell you what they felt was necessary to change from *Fallout 3*." He praised the improvements made to gun combat in *Fallout 4*, acknowledging that *Fallout 3* was Bethesda's first foray into a shooter-style game.

Oblivion Remastered, crafted by Virtuos using Unreal Engine 5, showcases a plethora of visual and feature enhancements. It boasts 4K resolution and 60 frames per second, but the upgrades go beyond mere visuals. The leveling systems, character creation, combat animations, and in-game menus have all been refined. Additionally, new dialogue, a proper third-person view, and advanced lip sync technology have been introduced. These changes have been well-received by fans, with some even suggesting that Oblivion Remastered could be considered a remake. Bethesda has clarified their decision to opt for a remaster rather than a full remake.

PlayNesmith believes that *Fallout 3 Remastered* would likely follow a similar path of improvements as seen in *Oblivion Remastered*. He pointed out that the combat in *Fallout 3* did not compare well to other shooters of its time, and he anticipates that the enhancements made in *Fallout 4* would be incorporated into a remastered version of *Fallout 3*. He also noted that *Oblivion Remastered* was not merely updated to match *Skyrim* from 2011 but was elevated to a level that visually surpasses the most recent updates to *Skyrim*. Nesmith went as far as to call *Oblivion Remastered* "Oblivion 2.0."

Bethesda is currently juggling multiple projects, including The Elder Scrolls VI, potential expansions for Starfield, ongoing work on Fallout 76, and the Fallout TV series, which is set to explore New Vegas in its second season. This flurry of activity promises an exciting future for fans.
