Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 22,2025

Valve has released a major update for Deadlock, completely revamping its map. Gone are the four lanes; in their place is a more traditional MOBA-style three-lane layout. This fundamental change will dramatically alter gameplay. Previously, a common strategy involved a "1 vs 2" lane distribution. Now, with two heroes likely per lane, teams will need to rethink their resource allocation and strategic approaches.

The map redesign extends beyond the lane structure, impacting the positions of neutral camps, buffs, and other key elements. To help players adapt, a new "map exploration" mode has been added, allowing for unhindered exploration of the revised environment without the pressure of combat.

This patch also significantly modifies the Soul Orb system. Players can now collect souls even without directly securing the kill, leading to faster resource accumulation. Further refinements include reduced hover times for soul effects.

Beyond the map and Soul Orb changes, the update includes adjustments to sprint mechanics, character balancing, and enhanced performance. It also adds support for DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0 technologies. Numerous bug fixes are included as well. For a comprehensive list of all changes, consult the official patch notes.
