Netflix Launches First MMO: Spirit Crossing This Year

Netflix is venturing into the world of MMOs with the announcement of *Spirit Crossing*, a cozy life-simulation game developed by Spry Fox, unveiled at GDC 2025. If you're familiar with Spry Fox's previous titles like *Cozy Grove* and *Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit*, you can anticipate a game filled with warm pastel visuals, soothing music, and a strong emphasis on fostering connections rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In *Spirit Crossing*, players will have the opportunity to explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. Activities include gathering resources, riding on fluffy creatures, joining dance parties, and simply enjoying the company of friends.

The game's visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even incorporates elements of modern art like Corporate Memphis. The aim is to create a timeless and familiar atmosphere where players feel comfortable settling in for the long haul.

A unique feature of *Spirit Crossing* is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to grow into a harvestable orchard. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes the approach Spry Fox took with *Cozy Grove*.

The game places a significant emphasis on forming meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox's design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his desire for *Spirit Crossing* to be a space that transforms strangers into friends.

Netflix has released a trailer for *Spirit Crossing*, which showcases its charming and captivating world. You can watch it below:

The game is set to launch later this year. In the meantime, don't miss our next article on *The Great Sneeze*, which turns classic art into a playful puzzle adventure and is available now.
