"Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5"

Author:Kristen Update:Jun 11,2025

Far Cry 4, now over a decade since its original release, finally delivers a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) experience on the PlayStation 5.

As discovered by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game’s update log for Version 1.08 notes the addition of “60 FPS support on PS5 console.”

If you've never had the chance to experience it before, this performance boost makes Far Cry 4 more appealing than ever. The game features one of the franchise’s most memorable villains, Pagan Min, and immerses players in a sprawling, vibrant open world. Set against the dramatic Himalayan landscape, the environment is more than just scenic—it's an interactive playground designed for combat, exploration, and adventure.

IGN’s review praised the title as "great" with an 8.5/10 score, highlighting that while the characters may fall short, the campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer offer a high degree of freedom and enjoyment.

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of Ubisoft’s PS4-era titles that have received performance enhancements in recent years, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. This improvement has sparked excitement among fans on Reddit, who are hopeful similar upgrades will be extended to other beloved entries like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

However, some players feel the timing missed the mark: “You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago,” one disappointed user commented.

In related news, Ubisoft recently established a new subsidiary focused on expanding its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent.

This development follows shortly after Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players. The company has faced several challenges leading up to the game’s launch, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. With investor confidence at stake and its stock price hitting record lows, the success of Shadows carries significant weight.

Additionally, Ubisoft quietly added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old title Splinter Cell: Blacklist earlier today.
