The PMRC Rondo Cup 2025, the latest thrilling PUBG Mobile esports tournament, concluded this past weekend with team Yangon Galacticos emerging as the champions. The victorious team secured their win with an impressive points lead, earning them the lion's share of the $20,000 prize pool generously provided by PUBG.

The tournament unfolded on PUBG's newest and largest map to date, Rondo. This expansive battlefield hosted 16 teams, each qualifying through various tournaments such as D'Xavier at PMSL SEA Spring, Rangers at PMCL Spring, and R3GICIDE at PMSL CSA Fall.

Yangon Galacticos clinched the title under the newly introduced SMASH format rules. According to this innovative ruleset, a team needed to accumulate over 30 points and secure a victory in a separate match to claim the championship. However, after six intense matches, no team managed to meet these criteria, leading to Yangon Galacticos' victory due to their overwhelming points lead.

The Rondo Cup proved to be a resounding success, with HORAA Esports and Bigetron Esports securing the second and third spots, respectively. This achievement underscores the growth and ambition of PUBG Mobile's esports initiatives since 2024.

Interestingly, the inaugural tournament to feature the SMASH rule did not see a winner emerge through this format. The future of this rule in upcoming tournaments will depend on whether the organizers believe it will foster more skillful and engaging gameplay.

For dedicated PUBG Mobile fans looking for a change of pace from high-octane action, consider exploring the latest edition of Ahead of the Game. You might find the upcoming tower defense game, Sushimon, to be a refreshing and engaging alternative.
