Yakuza Fans Vote on Unique Official Merch: Cult Clothes, Traffic Cones, and More

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Yakuza / Like a Dragon series, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is engaging fans in a unique way by allowing them to vote on upcoming official merchandise. The options range from conventional items like a 20th anniversary celebration hoodie and a themed pencil case to more eccentric choices drawn from the franchise's storied history. Fans can choose from an impressive list of 100 items, with the top two vote-getters set to be produced and sold within the next two years. Voting is available on the official website, though the competition is listed solely in Japanese.

Among the more unusual items on offer are the cult outfit of Munan Suzuki from Yakuza 0, the massive traffic cone used by Majima in Yakuza Kiwami, and the flamboyant "Puffy Gold Pants." Other quirky options include the sake Majima enjoys in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6: The Song of Life, Kashiwagi's tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, and Saejima's prisoner uniform from Yakuza 4, among others.

As part of the anniversary festivities, fans can look forward to the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, set to hit the shelves on February 21, 2025. While RGG Studio made a significant impact with the 10th anniversary release of Yakuza 0, no additional celebratory projects have been announced for later in the year. However, given the studio's track record of rapid development, which includes nine game releases in the last five years—such as Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Judgment Remastered, Lost Judgment, Like a Dragon: Ishin, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, and two Super Monkey Ball games, along with an enhanced remaster of Virtua Fighter 5—the possibility of more releases in 2025 cannot be ruled out.
