Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward

Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions offer shortcuts to identifying ghosts, but at a cost. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, and this guide details its use and inherent risks.

Utilizing the Voodoo Doll

The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. Each of its ten pins, when inserted, increases the likelihood of ghost activity, such as EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints. This is particularly useful for elusive or quiet ghosts.

However, each pin insertion carries a sanity penalty: 5% per pin, totaling 50% if all pins are used. This significantly increases the risk of a ghost hunt.

The most significant risk is the heart pin. Inserting it triggers an immediate, extended Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer than usual), severely impacting your survival chances. The pin's location is random, adding an element of chance to its use.

Despite the risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a valuable tool for evidence gathering, especially with proper preparation and teamwork.

Understanding Cursed Possessions

Cursed Possessions, also known as Cursed Objects, are high-risk, high-reward items randomly appearing on Phasmophobia maps. Unlike standard equipment, they manipulate ghost behavior but pose a considerable threat to player sanity and survival.

The game features seven Cursed Objects:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle

Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings). Their use is optional; no penalty exists for ignoring them. The choice to utilize them depends on your team's risk tolerance and strategic goals.
