Fallout Haunted House Debuts at Universal Studios Halloween 2025

Author:Kristen Update:Nov 26,2025

IGN can exclusively reveal that both Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood will feature a new haunted house based on Prime Video’s Fallout series and that the HHN Five Nights at Freddy’s experience will draw inspiration from the film, with the latter being brought to life through the expertise of the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, which also created the animatronics for the movie.

While details on the Five Nights at Freddy’s attraction remain limited, the Fallout haunted house will debut on August 29 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 4 at Universal Studios Hollywood. It will immerse fans in memorable moments from Fallout’s debut season and beyond.

Guests will begin by entering Vault 33, joining Lucy MacLean as she escapes a violent massacre while uncovering a dark, hidden secret. The adventure then leads outside the vault into the Wasteland, where visitors must evade attacks from Scavengers, Raiders, and even mutated cockroaches called RAD Roaches. As they navigate the Wasteland, guests will explore the Super Duper Mart, encounter the Ghoul, and come face-to-face with Maximus and his imposing T-60 armor.

To learn more about this thrilling and chilling journey into the nuclear wasteland, we spoke with John Murdy, Creative Director and Executive Producer at Universal Studios Hollywood, and Matthew Flood, Senior Show Director at Universal Orlando Resort, during IGN Live. As dedicated Fallout fans, they shared how they and their teams are striving to create the ultimate Fallout experience.

“As you move through these environments, we want visitors to feel the excitement of being in a Fallout vault,” Flood explained. “Where else can you explore a Fallout vault, venture into the Wasteland, and confront ghouls firsthand?

“The surroundings tell a vivid story—just look at the bodies Lucy encounters after leaving the vault. These gruesome touches are perfect for Halloween Horror Nights, delivering the scares, monsters, mutated creatures, and ghouls our fans crave. It’s all prime material for a horror event.”

Fallout also presents a unique opportunity for the team to explore something entirely new.

“Fallout blends retro-futuristic style with a strong 1950s aesthetic,” Murdy noted. “Exploring the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust is especially thrilling for us, since we’ve never tackled this theme at HHN before. It opens up a whole new dimension of horror.”

Interestingly, both Hollywood and Orlando will offer distinct elements in their Fallout experiences, including variations in the T-60 armor.

“It’s enormous,” Murdy said of the T-60 Armor. “We’ve collaborated closely with the Fallout producers, who have provided us with a wealth of assets. Over the years, we’ve undertaken many large-scale projects for Horror Nights, but this is one of the biggest. We also wanted each park to share common features while having unique touches—so in Hollywood, the Power Armor is a fully animated animatronic figure.”

“In Orlando, we’ve crafted a climactic battle sequence,” Flood added. “Without giving too much away, T-60s will definitely play a role. We also managed to include Filly, and I think having a live-action Fallout battle moment is incredibly exciting.”

Murdy also hinted that each Fallout house will feature unique creature encounters, with Hollywood introducing the terrifying Yao Guai Bear.

Amid ghouls, mutated bears, and deadly scavengers, the haunted house is designed to be chaotic—yet Flood, Murdy, and the team have carefully balanced terror with storytelling. Murdy shared that his writing treatments for the Fallout experience averaged 100 pages, combining narrative guidance with technical instructions from start to finish.

“This level of detail ensures our team knows exactly what to build,” Murdy said. “Halloween Horror Nights is celebrated for its meticulous attention to detail. We aim to impress both casual visitors and dedicated fans, sprinkling in so many Easter eggs that only true enthusiasts of the games and series will spot them all.”

Flood teased a specially crafted Pip-Boy hidden within the experience and advised guests to inspect storefront windows and building sides for scattered surprises.

“If you return for a second or third walk-through and manage to glance around when you’re not too scared, you’ll discover numerous Easter eggs throughout the house,” Flood remarked.

Finally, we asked what each was most enthusiastic about bringing to Halloween Horror Nights.

“For me, it’s definitely the Wasteland,” Murdy said. “Transitioning from the claustrophobic vaults to the open Wasteland is exhilarating. But from a pure horror standpoint, the Super Duper Mart stands out.”

On the topic of fictional settings, we received another enticing quote about the Five Nights at Freddy’s experience at this year’s Hollywood Horror Nights, making the wait for further details even harder!

“When you step into this attraction, it truly feels like you’re living inside the movie,” Murdy revealed.
