Author:Kristen Update:May 28,2025

Stellar Blade, the action-packed game published by PlayStation and developed by Shift Up, is set to receive a fully-fledged sequel. The game, which launched in April 2024, received positive feedback from players who appreciated its gameplay, drawing comparisons to NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

Shift Up, the Korean developer behind Stellar Blade, has officially announced the sequel through a chart detailing their future plans, released as part of their latest financial results. The chart indicates that the Stellar Blade sequel is scheduled to be released before 2027, alongside other upcoming projects.

In the interim, Stellar Blade is set for a "platform expansion," which is likely referring to its upcoming release on PC, slated for June 11, 2025. Additionally, Shift Up is working on Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG, which is also expected to launch within the same timeframe.

Earlier this week, Shift Up addressed a PC region lock issue affecting Stellar Blade's Steam store page, which had been blocked in over 100 countries. The developer stated they are in close discussions with Sony to resolve this matter.

IGN's review of Stellar Blade highlighted the game's strengths and weaknesses. While the story and characters were noted for lacking substance and some RPG elements, such as sidequests, were criticized for being poorly implemented, the game's action was praised. The Sekiro-inspired combat system, challenging enemies, and hidden rewards were commended for encouraging exploration and engagement.

With the announcement of a sequel and continued development on new projects, Shift Up is poised to expand its presence in the gaming industry, building on the success of Stellar Blade.
