Square Enix is opening the CBT for Dragon Quest Smash/Grow

Pre-registration for the game's closed beta test is now live. The test period will run from October 14th to October 21st, available on Android devices via Google Play. You have until October 2nd to submit your application through the official website.

Ahead of the beta, Square Enix is hosting a giveaway campaign from September 19th to September 26th on its official X and Facebook pages. To enter, simply follow their X account, share the campaign post, and leave a comment.

The prizes perfectly capture the series' legendary charm. One lucky winner will receive the Dragon Quest Metallic Monsters Gallery Erdrick Sword & Shield set, another gets a Dragon Quest Pixelight Slime, and two additional winners will each receive a medium-sized Dragon Quest Smile Slime Plush toy.

The company also released a new trailer today, offering our first proper look at the game. Check it out below!

What else do we know about the game?

Dragon Quest Smash/Grow marks a departure from the series' traditional turn-based combat. Rather than slow, strategic encounters, you'll smash through hordes of enemies while progressively enhancing your abilities.

The game retains the franchise's signature Coup de Grâce techniques. Every run offers a unique experience, as you'll select from randomized Blessings skills that alter your character's development and tactical options.

The Dragon Quest franchise began with creator Yuji Horii in 1986, making its US debut in 1989 as Dragon Warrior. Over decades, the series has expanded to include 11 mainline titles, numerous spin-offs, manga, novels, films, and anime adaptations.
