Schizophrenic Fan Inspired by Arkham Knight, Receives Video from Kevin Conroy

In 2020, a fan of Batman: Arkham Knight with schizophrenia reached out to Kevin Conroy through the Cameo service, hoping for a standard 30-second message. However, the response he received was far beyond his expectations. Moved by the fan's story, Conroy delivered over six minutes of heartfelt encouragement, which became a lifeline for the fan during some of his darkest moments.

The fan, inspired by the game's narrative where Batman confronts his fears, paranoia, and hallucinations, saw parallels with his own battle against schizophrenia. He expressed his gratitude to Conroy, detailing how the Dark Knight's journey had empowered him to persevere. Instead of the anticipated brief video, Conroy provided an extensive message filled with support and empathy.

"This video has saved me from suicide countless times. Hearing Batman say he believed in me was incredibly powerful... But as time went on, it became just as important that it was Kevin himself who believed in me," the fan shared.

Initially hesitant to share the video publicly, the fan's perspective changed upon learning about Conroy's personal connection to schizophrenia—his brother had also suffered from the condition. Encouraged by this, the fan published the video on Reddit, hoping it might offer solace and inspiration to others facing similar challenges.

"If someone in his family asks me to delete this video, I will of course do so. But it has inspired me in my toughest moments, and maybe it will inspire someone else. Hang in there. Because Batman believes in you," he added.

Tragically, Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice behind Batman, passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 66. Yet, his words and enduring legacy continue to inspire countless individuals worldwide.
