Sadie Sink Joins Spider-Man 4 Cast with Tom Holland

Exciting news for fans of both *Stranger Things* and the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Sadie Sink, renowned for her role as Max Mayfield, is reportedly set to star alongside Tom Holland in the highly anticipated *Spider-Man 4*. According to Deadline, Sink, who first graced the screen in the 2016 sports drama *Chuck*, will join the MCU's next big adventure, which is scheduled to start filming later this year and is slated for a release on July 31, 2026. Both Marvel and Sony have remained tight-lipped, offering no comment on the matter when approached by Deadline.

Speculation is rife about the character Sink might portray. Deadline suggests she could be stepping into the shoes of the iconic X-Men character Jean Grey or another beloved redheaded figure from the Spider-Man universe, possibly Mary Jane Watson. However, integrating Mary Jane into the narrative could pose challenges given Peter Parker's ongoing relationship with Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, portrayed by Zendaya in previous films. With the significant plot developments in *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, where Peter's identity was erased from everyone's memory, Sink's role in *Spider-Man 4* is poised to be a pivotal one, potentially signaling a fresh start for the franchise.

Tom Holland, currently engaged in filming Christopher Nolan's *The Odyssey*, is expected to transition to *Spider-Man 4* once his current project wraps up, as per Deadline's report.

Adding to the excitement, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige hinted at the integration of X-Men characters into the MCU during last year's Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore. He teased that fans would soon see "some X-Men players that you might recognize" in upcoming films, though he remained coy about specifics. Feige also emphasized the role of X-Men in the MCU's future, particularly post-*Secret Wars*, stating, "The X-Men are an important part of that future."

While the immediate future holds *Captain America: Brave New World*, *Thunderbolts*, and *The Fantastic Four: First Steps* in July 2025, the real excitement seems to be building for Phase 6, which includes *Avengers: Doomsday*, *Spider-Man 4*, and *Avengers: Secret Wars* in 2027. The potential return of characters like Deadpool and Wolverine, following the success of their summer movie, adds to the anticipation. There's also curiosity about whether Channing Tatum might reprise his role as Gambit.

Feige has made it clear that the X-Men will play a crucial role in the MCU's narrative post-*Secret Wars*. He reflected on the journey from *Avengers: Endgame* to *Secret Wars*, emphasizing a clear vision for the MCU's future, with the X-Men at its core. It appears that Phase 7 will be heavily influenced by the X-Men, and the first signs of this integration were seen with Storm's appearance in *What If...? Season 3*.

Looking further ahead, Marvel Studios has added three untitled projects to its 2028 release schedule, with dates set for February 18, May 5, and November 10. Speculation is mounting that one of these could be the long-awaited standalone *X-Men* film, marking a new era for the MCU.
