How Does Split Fiction’s Friend’s Pass Work?

A standout feature of Split Fiction is its mandatory co-op mode; there's no single-player option. You can enjoy the game in couch co-op split-screen mode or online co-op with just one copy of the game. This feature is cross-platform, allowing you to play with friends on different systems.

To play online with a friend, have them download the "Split Fiction - Friend’s Pass" from their preferred digital marketplace after the game's release on March 6. This pass is free and enables your friend to play with you online after receiving an invite. Similar to Hazelight's previous games, It Takes Two and A Way Out, the Friend's Pass allows non-paying players to enjoy the full game as long as they're paired with someone who owns it.

What Is Split Fiction?

Split Fiction is a co-op-only action-adventure game featuring two writers—one specializing in sci-fi, the other in fantasy—who are drawn into their own fictional universes. Players must collaborate to combat enemies and solve puzzles across levels inspired by science fiction and fantasy themes. One level might see you racing on Tron-style motorcycles and navigating gravity plates, while another could involve transforming into fantasy characters within an enchanted forest.

The game also includes portals to "side stories," which are essentially minigames. These might involve riding a "sand fish" reminiscent of Dune through the desert or water skiing behind a drone over the sea.
