How to Start the Hermit Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

The Hermit quest will unlock naturally as you progress through quests for the blacksmith Radovan in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. After locating the lost cart, return to Radovan, who will then express his desire to forge a sword as a wedding gift, initiating the Hermit questline. Before you can meet the hermit, you'll need to gather information from the villagers in Troskowitz.

Get Information About the Hermit

Start by visiting the tavern in Troskowitz and speaking with Innkeeper Betty. Make sure to explore all dialogue options. Continue your investigation by chatting with other villagers, such as the alehouse maid and the general trader, to gather more details about the hermit.

Talk to Gerda and Stanislav

Next, you must speak with Gerda in Troskowitz, who claims to have seen the apparition. You can either pay her a small amount of Groschen or attempt to pass a dialogue check to extract the necessary information.

Afterward, travel to Apollonia and converse with Stanislav. Similar to Gerda, you’ll need to pass a dialogue check or pay him with Groschen.

Gather Evidence

With the information at hand, it’s time to collect hard evidence. Head to the cross Gerda mentioned and dig up the grave to find Groschen, documents, and artifacts related to the Knights of the Cross. Remember, you'll need a spade for this, which you can buy from the general trader in Troskowitz or find at cemeteries near settlements.

Once you've read the documents, proceed to the quest marker in Apollonia to discover a hut and a clearing with a black horse. Examining the horse will provide your next clue, preparing you to confront the hermit.

Talk to the Hermit

Approach the hermit’s hut and engage in conversation. Without the evidence, the hermit won’t be forthcoming, but with your gathered clues, he should be more willing to talk.

Choose these dialogue options:

• “You’re suspicious.”
• Exhaust all dialogue options about the clues and evidence.
• “Out with it!”

The hermit will then reveal that he is not Ambrose but Konrad. He'll ask you to deliver a cross to a widow named Margaret before he'll relinquish the sword.

Visit the cemetery near Apollonia to meet Margaret and give her the cross. This action will trigger the Sinful Soul quest, which you can complete immediately by assisting her in digging a grave for Ambrose. This step is optional; you can return to Konrad directly if you prefer.

Help Konrad or Kill Him

Upon returning to the hermit’s hut, you'll encounter Crusaders. You can choose to either assist them in killing Konrad or help Konrad escape.

Sneak to the hut and inform Konrad that you've completed the task. Ask about the sword's location. At this juncture, you can decide to help Konrad or kill him. I chose to kill Konrad, as confronting the Crusaders is challenging, whereas fighting Konrad is easier, especially with Mutt and the Crusaders' assistance.

After defeating Konrad, speak with the Crusaders and offer to return the documents for a small sum of Groschen.

Get the Hermit’s Sword

Finally, travel north of the hermit’s hut to find two tangled oak trees. The hermit’s sword will be embedded in the ground. Retrieve it and return to Radovan in Tachov to complete the quest.
