Split Fiction streamers have unlocked an incredible reward by completing the challenging secret stage known as "Laser Hell," earning them a trip to Hazelight Studios. Dive into the details of this thrilling challenge and discover what Hazelight Studios has planned following the success of their latest game.

Split Fiction Continues With More Surprises

First Players to Finish "Laser Hell" Challenge Earn a Trip to Hazelight Studios

Since its successful launch last month, Split Fiction has continued to captivate players with hidden surprises, including the notoriously tough "Laser Hell" secret stage. Against all odds, a duo of Chinese streamers, sharkOvO and E1uM4y, successfully navigated this stage and were rewarded with a trip to Hazelight Studios, courtesy of the game's director.

The streamers documented their achievement on BiliBili, revealing how they accessed the Laser Hell stage by entering a specific sequence of switches on the elevator within the Isolation level. Upon entering the correct sequence, they were transported to a platform stage filled with lasers, which they skillfully maneuvered through to complete the challenge.

Their success was celebrated by Hazelight founder Josef Fares, who appeared in a congratulatory video and extended an invitation to visit the studio in Sweden. Fares later confirmed this on Twitter (X) on March 19, saying, "Congrats to 'sharkOvO' and 'E1uM4y' for finishing the secret challenge 'Laser Hell' in #splitfiction. VERY impressive! I will keep my promise and invite you both to Sweden for an early look at our next game. We'll be in touch!"

Hazelight Studios Working On Its Next Game

In a recent interview on The Friends Per Second podcast on March 17, Josef Fares discussed Hazelight's ongoing relationship with publisher EA and the studio's excitement about beginning work on their next game.

Fares expressed his unique perspective on game releases, stating, "For me, personally, every time a game is out, I’m kind of done with it. I’m kind of like, ‘OK, here’s the next thing.’" He emphasized that Split Fiction was particularly special, being the best-received game Hazelight has produced. However, his focus has already shifted to the studio's next project, which they began working on about a month ago.

While Fares was tight-lipped about the specifics of their current project, he hinted at its early stages and the studio's commitment to delivering quality games within a three to four-year development cycle. He shared, "There is a reason why I can’t talk about the next game; it’s because it’s quite early... It’s way too early, but just know this: we are very, very, very, very excited here."

Regarding Hazelight's relationship with EA, Fares praised the publisher for their supportive role, explaining, "EA is a supporter. We don’t pitch games to them... They have zero, and I mean zero, thing to say about what we’re doing next." He emphasized that EA respects Hazelight's creative autonomy, allowing them to focus on their work without interference.
