Elden Ring Nightreign could be introducing a two-player co-op option in its post-launch updates. In a recent interview with IGN on May 23, Director Junya Ishizaki admitted that the development team initially overlooked the potential of a two-player mode.

Currently, Elden Ring Nightreign supports solo play or groups of three, with a matchmaking system that adds a third player when duos attempt to play. Ishizaki highlighted that the game's focus was primarily on three-player co-op and the traditional solo experience beloved by Souls fans. He acknowledged the oversight regarding duos and expressed that the team is now considering adding a two-player option in future updates.

"So in putting all our efforts into that aspect, we kind of overlooked and neglected the duos aspect, but this is something that we are looking at and considering for post-launch support as well," he stated.

Difference Between Playing Solo and Trio

While Elden Ring Nightreign doesn't currently offer a native two-player mode, it does cater to solo players. Although the game is designed with three-player co-op in mind, Ishizaki assured that solo play is a natural and encouraged part of the game's loop. He noted that the behavior and aggressiveness of enemies have been adjusted to ensure solo players don't face unfair multi-foe encounters.

"Solo play is generally encouraged and is a natural part of the game loop, but also in general for those solo players — and this might be something that's difficult to notice in multiplayer — but the activeness and aggressiveness of enemies towards any one single player has been adjusted so that you don't find yourself in any unreasonable multi-foe fights," Ishizaki explained.

He also mentioned that solo players face a greater challenge due to the lack of teammates to revive them. To address this, the game includes a self-revive feature scattered throughout the map, providing solo players with more opportunities to continue their journey.

Executor Character Trailer

As Elden Ring Nightreign approaches its release date, FromSoftware has introduced the seventh Nightfarer, Executor, via a Twitter (X) post on May 26. Described as a "condemned warrior who wields a cursed katana blade," Executor was previously seen in the game's 10-minute overview trailer. Now, he has his own character trailer that details his abilities and his role in the world of Limveld.

Executor possesses the passive ability Tenacity, which boosts him when cleansed from status effects. His character skill, Cursed Sword, allows him to assume a special stance that deflects incoming enemy attacks. His Ultimate Art, Aspects of the Crucible: Beast, transforms him into a Primordial Beast, enabling him to devastate the battlefield and destroy everything in his path.

Global Release Timings Revealed

FromSoftware announced the global release schedule for Elden Ring Nightreign on Twitter (X) on May 23. Fans can refer to their post for specific launch times in their regions.

The release times may vary between console and PC in some locations. For instance, players in the PDT timezone can access the PC version on May 29 at 3:00 PM, six hours before the console version's release. Pre-loading will be available 48 hours before the launch on all platforms, allowing players to download the game and start playing as soon as it becomes available.
