Dynasty Warriors: Origins features four difficulty settings: Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard), initially available. Ultimate Warrior (very hard) unlocks after completing a faction's main scenario. Note that while there's a trophy/achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, campaign completion doesn't have difficulty-specific trophies/achievements.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

Choosing the Right Difficulty

Historian is the easiest, ideal for newcomers or those prioritizing story. Wayfarer suits most players, even with limited Musou/Warriors experience. Series veterans might start with Hero, while experienced Musou players should consider Ultimate Warrior after unlocking it for a persistent challenge. You can change difficulty between battles via the config menu without affecting the story.

Difficulty Comparison

Historian makes enemy attacks easily blockable, simplifies staggering enemies, bravery gain, and Musou Gauge filling. Hero increases enemy strength and aggression, reduces parry/evade windows, and removes Meat Bun drops. Blocking depletes bravery, limits battle influence, and slightly reduces Skill Points and gold. Ultimate Warrior intensifies Hero's challenges with tighter timing and significantly reduced rewards.
