In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, the Forbidden Lands are home to some of the most awe-inspiring and fearsome creatures you'll encounter. Here's your comprehensive guide to defeating and capturing this magnificent creature for valuable rewards.

How to Unlock Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds

Your first encounter with Uth Duna takes place in the **Scarlet Forest** during the Chapter 1 mission questline. After tackling other notable foes such as Lala Barina and Congalala, you'll team up with Olivia and Erik, who are investigating a nearby dam. As the weather shifts dramatically, Uth Duna will emerge amidst a raging monsoon during **Mission 1-5: Beyond the Deluge**. Your challenge is to defeat this beast before it wreaks further havoc.

How to Beat and Capture Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds

Uth Duna, known as **‘A Feast in the Deep’**, emerges when the waters in the Scarlet Forest rise to perilous levels. As the apex predator of the region, this fight will be more challenging than any you've faced so far.

Before engaging Uth Duna, equip yourself with a **thunder-element weapon** if possible. You can obtain one from Rey Dau in Mission 2-2. Alternatively, wear gear or use a Talisman like **Water Charm I** to boost your water resistance. Ensure you're well-fed to maintain high Health and Stamina, and carry **Nulberries** to counteract **Waterblight**, the primary status ailment Uth Duna inflicts.

Uth Duna Attacks and Weaknesses

When battling Uth Duna, pay attention to its iridescent fins on its legs and tail, known as the **‘Veil’**. These fins temporarily increase the monster’s defense but slow its movement. Damaging the veil enough will cause the fins to retract, exposing Uth Duna's weak points, such as its **Head, Mouth, Tail, and Forelegs** (all breakable). However, once the veil is gone, Uth Duna becomes more aggressive and its attacks more frequent, requiring you to remain agile in the water.

Uth Duna's main attacks include:

  • Belly Slam – Uth Duna rears up and slams down, creating waves.
  • Roar – A roar that can temporarily immobilize you.
  • Body Coil – It coils and spins, lashing out with its tail.
  • Aerial Twirl – A leaping attack that covers a wide area.
  • Leg Swipe – A close-range swipe with its clawed feet.

Remember, after defeating Uth Duna once, you can check its weaknesses in your Field Guide.
