While pursuing the enigmatic dragon in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll encounter a fierce battle between Rey Dau and this monstrous creature. The situation escalates quickly, with the monster now fixated on annihilating your group. Here’s how you can prepare and overcome this challenging encounter.

Rey Dau is the initial dragon monster you'll face in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. With its lightning element, it's immune to similar attacks, but vulnerable to water and ice. Aim for its head, a 4-star weak point, or its wings, which have a 3-star weakness. Avoid the torso as it's resilient, and while hitting the head is challenging, targeting the tail is a viable alternative. The legs are well-protected, so they're less ideal. Use status ailments except for Stun and Paralysis, as they won't affect this lightning-infused dragon.

Use a Flash Pod

Employ a Flash Pod to temporarily stun Rey Dau, providing an opportunity for critical strikes. When it unleashes its lightning attack, focus on its horn, which glows bright red in Focus Mode, to deal significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Surviving the fight becomes easier with the right gear. The Hope Armor set, equipped with the Divine Blessing skill, reduces incoming damage and offers resistance against Lightning and Fire. Additionally, consuming a meal that enhances elemental resistance can be beneficial. If dodging is your weak point, position yourself close to Rey Dau’s legs, minimizing its chance to hit you as it primarily attacks in front and behind.

Pay Attention to the Environment

Rey Dau’s mobility requires you to be aware of your surroundings. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on lone trees to briefly stun the monster. Be cautious when it returns to its nest, where it can unleash a follow-up lightning attack that could stun you. Patience is key; avoid hasty moves that could lead to your demise.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Instead of battling to the death, you can capture Rey Dau for rewards. Weaken the dragon until it's near death, indicated by a skull icon near its marker on the mini-map. Set a Pitfall Trap, as Shock Traps are ineffective against this lightning dragon. Follow up quickly with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture within a tight time frame.
