Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

Author:Kristen Update:May 08,2025

Fans of the classic 1995 film *Clueless* are in for a treat as Alicia Silverstone is set to don the iconic yellow and plaid once more. The beloved actress will reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in an upcoming sequel series on Peacock, marking a much-anticipated return to the world of Beverly Hills high school drama.

According to Variety, the series is still in the development phase, and plot details are tightly under wraps. However, we do know that this project will continue the story from the original film. This new series marks a fresh start compared to a different Clueless spin-off that Peacock had planned in 2020, which never came to fruition.

The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original *Gossip Girl* and its reboot, as well as Jordan Weiss. These three will not only write the series but also serve as executive producers. They'll be joined by Amy Heckerling, the mastermind behind the original *Clueless* film, and Robert Lawrence, its producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are set to produce the series, ensuring a strong backing for this nostalgic venture.

This isn't the first time *Clueless* has ventured onto the small screen. From 1996 to 1999, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN, featuring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone. However, Silverstone's recent return to the character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her enthusiasm to step back into Cher's shoes — or rather, her wardrobe. It's clear that fans and Silverstone alike are eager to revisit the beloved world of *Clueless*.
