Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Author:Kristen Update:May 16,2025

Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal issues involving Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This move primarily affects the game's name, along with likely changes to specific elements related to Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).

For those not in the loop, Ironmace Studios is currently entangled in a legal dispute with Nexon. The crux of the matter is Nexon's claim that Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, utilized trade secrets and assets developed during their tenure at Nexon to create Dark and Darker. While the validity of these claims is yet to be determined, the legal proceedings continue to unfold.

As we previously reported in February, there were hints that Dark and Darker Mobile might undergo a name change. Now, with the official rebranding to Abyss of Dungeons, those rumors have been confirmed.

ytNo Major Changes
Fortunately, the rebranding doesn't signal a shift in the core gameplay mechanics. Dark and Darker Mobile had already started to diverge from its original concept, introducing a third-person perspective among other modifications. Fans can rest assured that the essence of the game remains intact.

However, this news might disappoint some supporters of Ironmace. The hope is that the legal battles will resolve soon, allowing fans to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons as a companion to the main PC version of Dark and Darker. With a soft launch scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico, anticipation is building.
