Game Overview:
Tongits is traditionally a three-player game using a standard 52-card deck. The goal is to minimize your hand's value by creating and playing melds (sets and runs) and winning through "Tongits" (emptying your hand), "draw" (lowest hand value when the draw pile is depleted), or winning a challenge when another player calls "draw."
Gameplay:
- Setup: Each player receives 12 cards (dealer gets 13), with remaining cards forming the draw pile.
- Turns: Players take turns clockwise, drawing from either the draw or discard pile. They then form melds (sets of three or four same-rank cards, or runs of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) and discard a card.
- Winning: Win by "Tongits" (discarding your last card), "draw" (lowest hand value when the draw pile is empty), or winning a challenge.
- Special Actions: "Burn" (inability to make a valid move results in a round loss) and strategic challenging add layers of depth.
- Scoring: Points are earned from melds and remaining hand values, accumulating across rounds to determine the overall winner.
