Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves 2.0: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord residing in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer is situated at the maze's heart, beneath a giant tree in Oakheart Highcourt, within the Fagaceae Peninsula. An accessible entrance is located southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, players encounter a six-piece board game. The goal is to connect three pieces before the Lifer does. Black pieces are player-controlled, white pieces are controlled by the Lifer. Outer circle piece placement opens corresponding maze walls and gates. The game can be exited and resumed at any time. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before removing buffs; the Lifer will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs, four removable and three permanent. These are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (using the Stake of Imbalance):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2 seconds of inactivity.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% ATK increase every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per hit (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6 seconds without dealing damage.
  • Decay of Time: 200% increased resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and a 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs:

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduction in Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

Four purple lines, revealed using the Sensor tool near the Lifer, lead to four outer maze rooms containing Stakes of Imbalance. Manipulate the board game to open the gates. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). One room requires Tacet Discord defeat, another Friable Rock destruction, and one is simply on a table. Place the Stake in the corresponding module to remove a buff (purple lines turn yellow).

Defeating the Lifer

With all four removable buffs gone, the Lifer is significantly weaker. Initiate combat via the board game or the "Fight it out!" option. The Lifer's attacks are less threatening.

Rewards for defeating the Lifer:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests

Buffs can be re-enabled for a more challenging fight, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's attempts to create a line. It will eventually make a mistake.
