Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date

Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained silent on updates for the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio confirmed a busy roadmap and new projects under development, Co-Head Chad Dezern stated in a Variety interview that they are focusing on existing projects and aren't ready to reveal information on upcoming releases, including a potential 2025 launch for Wolverine. The team expressed considerable excitement but emphasized the need for continued secrecy.

Wolverine's Development History and Shared Universe

Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is confirmed for PlayStation 5. In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's existence within the same universe as Spider-Man, referencing the shared universe designation "1048." While fans anticipated crossovers, only a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") for Miles Morales in Spider-Man 2 has materialized so far. A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some of Wolverine's development assets to the public.

Insomniac's Current Projects and Spider-Man 2 PC Release

Insomniac announced at New York Comic-Con 2025 that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will launch on PC on January 30, 2025. The studio clarified that no additional story content is planned for Spider-Man 2, but the PC version will include all post-launch updates for the PS5 version. These updates encompass new suits, New Game+, and more. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available, with the latter offering exclusive suits.
