It seems that fans of the Marvel universe and particularly those who enjoy Vincent D’Onofrio's portrayal of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, will have to temper their expectations about seeing this iconic villain on the big screen. According to D’Onofrio himself, in a recent interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, the rights and ownership issues surrounding his character make it highly unlikely for Fisk to appear in any Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. This includes high-profile films like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, dashing any hopes of seeing D’Onofrio's name on a director's chair in future MCU films.

D’Onofrio elaborated that his character is exclusively usable for television projects, which means a standalone Wilson Fisk movie is off the table. This revelation might also impact potential plans for a Charlie Cox-led Daredevil movie, where D’Onofrio's Fisk would be an expected antagonist.

D’Onofrio first brought Wilson Fisk to life in the 2015 Netflix series, Marvel’s Daredevil, which ran for three seasons and garnered critical acclaim for his performance. Fisk, a formidable crimelord who eventually becomes the mayor of New York City, has been a fan-favorite character. In discussions with IGN, D’Onofrio shared insights into his approach to portraying Fisk, drawing inspiration from the likes of Harrison Ford and other legendary actors. He emphasized the importance of incorporating a sense of humility and realism into action scenes, citing Gary Cooper’s performance in Sergeant York as a prime example.

Currently, fans can catch D’Onofrio reprising his role as Fisk in the ongoing series Daredevil: Born Again, which is airing weekly on Disney+ and set to conclude its first season on April 15, 2025. While the big screen may be out of reach for now, D’Onofrio's compelling performance continues to captivate audiences on the small screen.
