Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide

Your journey kicks off right in the heart of town, across from the Gun Store and Hospital and in front of the Trading Hut. Start by ditching any excess loot and gearing up. A Rifle is a solid choice here—it's only $75 and packs enough punch to fend off most foes, at least for a while. Don't forget to stock up on coal to fuel your boat; it's got an old-school engine, after all.

The next town is 10,000m away, so get the engine roaring and you'll be on your way. You can stop to tackle Zombies and Drowned, but it's not always worth it due to the lack of valuables in the side houses. To restart the ship, just add more coal and fire it up again. Don't let the worm on the right side spook you. Hold onto your loot until the second safe zone to sell it, but watch out for Big Foot and Zombie mobs on both riverbanks.

After reaching the second safe zone/town, you'll face burning buildings teeming with mobs. Clear them out if you're with friends, but solo players might find it a waste of time given the scattered spawn points. Around 12,000m, you'll encounter a castle-like house full of Drowned but also stocked with Shotgun ammo and other valuable loot. Use it wisely.

Dead Sails Kraken Tips And Tricks

By now, you've got the gist—kill, loot, repeat, and hope for enemy defeat. That's the core gameplay loop. To excel, focus on efficiency, using the boat as your main inventory. Dump your bag's contents onto it to save time and space.

A key tip from my Dead Sails Kraken guide is stacking Zombies near the incinerator. It's tempting to flee those backwater towns, but efficient loot stacking pays off. Running low on fuel? Just toss a few Zombies in, and you're set.

Another tip: watch out in Sherrif's offices. They often swarm with mobs but offer great rewards in weapons and ammo. I managed to keep my shotgun loaded for ages by having a friend clear the ground floor as we explored each town.

Make sure to conserve your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress around 25,000m. It's still under construction, making it ripe for ambushes. I recommend going with at least three others, ideally a full five-stack. Be efficient with your loot collection, too.

Similarly, avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000m. They're tough, hit hard, and require a lot of ammo to safely defeat. Don't linger; plan your stops wisely. Remember, loot isn't everything.

The town after 50,000m is a prime farming spot. With at least two dozen Drowned and Zombies, it's perfect if you and your friends are armed with Shotguns or Sawnoffs. It's also an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel, so coordinate with your team to prep the bodies for loading quickly.

In the final safe zone, sell off everything and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't go easy on the Zombies and Drowned—aim to have at least 8-10 corpses for fuel during this last leg of the Dead Sails Kraken guide. You're almost there. At around 100,000m, you'll reach open waters, ready to face the beast. The sign of its approach is the skies darkening.

The camera will zoom out as the Kraken emerges. First, EVERYONE MUST CHOOSE a tentacle. The boss has a lot of health, and each tentacle attacks and deals damage if not repelled. If you have five players, form a pentagram-like shape and tackle your own tentacle.

Be cautious of the water splash ability. It causes AoE damage and is signaled by the Kraken winding back and creating a water trail with its tentacle. Use med kits generously here, as some damage is unavoidable.

Lastly, watch out for the Roar AoE. It causes minor damage that's unblockable and seems to slightly boost the beast's damage. You'll see it by the white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle that used the ability.
