Assassin's Creed: Shadows Unveils Character Progression and Enhanced Hidden Blade

Ubisoft's latest article spotlights the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, focusing on the equipment and progression systems for Yasuke and Naoe. A significant highlight is the improved functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade.

Each character boasts a unique skill tree reflecting their combat style: Yasuke's emphasizes samurai techniques, while Naoe's centers on shinobi skills. Players allocate skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine fighting styles. Mastery points are earned by completing open-world challenges and defeating formidable foes, such as Daisyo samurai.

To maintain a balanced experience, both characters progress at an equal pace. Acquiring powerful abilities often involves specific tasks, such as tracking down a clandestine shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" system, advanced by studying ancient texts or performing rituals at shrines. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.

Ubisoft also detailed the equipment system, featuring five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded and visually customized by a blacksmith. Armor and weapon perks can dramatically alter gameplay.

The Hidden Blade returns as a potent tool, capable of instant takedowns. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
