Sydney Sweeney, renowned for her roles in HBO's *Euphoria* and *The White Lotus*, as well as the recent *Madame Web*, is reportedly in final negotiations to star in the upcoming live-action *Gundam* movie. This exciting development comes after the confirmation in February that the beloved anime and toy franchise, *Mobile Suit Gundam*, is set to be adapted into a live-action film. Bandai Namco and Legendary have signed on to co-finance this ambitious project.

The film, which does not yet have an official title, will be helmed by Kim Mickle, the showrunner of *Sweet Tooth*. While plot details and a release window remain under wraps, a teaser poster has been released to build anticipation among fans. The poster, showcasing the iconic Gundam silhouette, hints at the film's potential to bring the rich world of *Mobile Suit Gundam* to life on the big screen globally.

According to Variety, Sweeney's involvement in the *Gundam* project marks another significant role for the actress, following her recent work in *Reality*, *Anyone but You*, and *Madame Web*. Details about her character and the plot are yet to be disclosed, but Sweeney's addition to the cast is a promising sign for the film's direction.

Legendary and Bandai Namco have expressed their commitment to the project, stating, "We plan to steadily announce details as they become finalized." They also highlighted the significance of *Mobile Suit Gundam*, which first aired in 1979 and revolutionized the genre of 'real robot anime'. The series is celebrated for its realistic portrayal of war, detailed scientific exploration, and complex human dramas centered around the use of 'mobile suits' as weapons, sparking a massive cultural phenomenon.
