"Switch 2 Zelda Ports: Repair Equipment Using Zelda Notes App"

Author:Kristen Update:May 04,2025

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 versions of *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* are set to receive several exciting upgrades, with one particularly noteworthy enhancement being the ability to repair equipment. This feature was recently showcased during a Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, as highlighted by YouTuber Zeltik. The new Zelda Notes app, a mobile companion app exclusive to these Nintendo Switch 2 versions, introduces a Daily Bonus feature. By accessing this feature, players can participate in a daily roll to receive various in-game bonuses, including meal effects, health and stamina recovery, and crucially, Equipment Repairs.

Both *The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom* incorporate durability meters for weapons, shields, and other items, which has been a contentious mechanic among fans. The prospect of repairing a beloved Flameblade, for instance, is appealing to many. However, there's a catch: the Daily Bonus operates on a roulette wheel, meaning the chance of landing an Equipment Repair is not guaranteed. Moreover, this feature is limited to once per day, requiring players to wait for the timer to reset before another attempt. While this can be a lifesaver in tight spots, it's not likely to revolutionize gameplay entirely.

The Zelda Notes app offers more than just Equipment Repairs. It also includes achievements for both games through the mobile companion program and special audio memories that enrich the lore and background of Hyrule. These enhancements, combined with the performance improvements of the Nintendo Switch 2, promise to elevate the open-world Zelda experience, particularly for players frustrated by the constant breaking of their favorite weapons.
