Excitement is in the air as DC has officially started filming its next blockbuster, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. To mark this thrilling milestone, DC's head honcho, James Gunn, took to Bluesky to share a sneak peek of Milly Alcock, known from *House of the Dragon*, stepping into the iconic role of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl. While the photo Gunn shared captures Alcock in her actor's chair, it's a tantalizing first glimpse at what's to come.

In his post, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El." This confirms that Craig Gillespie, acclaimed for directing *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, will be steering the ship for this much-anticipated film, as we previously reported in April.

Details on the plot remain under wraps, but we know the movie draws significant inspiration from the graphic novel *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. This compelling standalone story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel, which was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards, is a must-read for any fan eagerly awaiting the film.

The cast for *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* is equally exciting. Matthias Schoenaerts will take on the role of Krem, while Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye. The film also stars David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father, Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as her mother. Adding to the ensemble, Jason Momoa will bring the character Lobo to life, marking a new chapter in the DC universe for the actor.

*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second film in the newly revamped DC universe, following the release of James Gunn's *Superman* this summer. Other projects in development include *The Batman Part II*, which might or might not connect to Gunn's broader cinematic universe, and a rumored *Clayface* movie directed by Mike Flanagan.
