Arctic Hazard unveils Norse, a new strategy game channeling the spirit of XCOM, but transplanted to Viking-era Norway. The game promises a meticulously crafted historical setting and a compelling narrative, thanks to the involvement of award-winning author Giles Kristian, who penned the script.

The gaming landscape is saturated with medieval fantasy titles. Fans of medieval European settings with survival elements might consider games like Manor Lords and Medieval Dynasty. Others offer the chance to command Roman legions and shape the destinies of historical figures in grand battles, such as Imperator: Rome. However, Vikings consistently remain a popular subject in gaming.

Norse is a turn-based strategy game reminiscent of XCOM, but set against the backdrop of ancient Norway. Players follow Gunnar, a young warrior whose fate is intertwined with blood and betrayal. His quest: to hunt down Steinarr Far-Spear, the murderer of his father and fellow countrymen, while simultaneously building a settlement and assembling a formidable Viking army. Unlike the survival-focused Valheim, Norse prioritizes a narrative-driven experience.

Norse: A New Viking Strategy Game in the XCOM Mold

To ensure historical accuracy and an engaging storyline, Arctic Hazard partnered with Giles Kristian, a Sunday Times best-selling author and award winner. Kristian, whose Viking-themed novels have sold over a million copies, brings his expertise to the game's script. The trailer showcases the developer's commitment to authentically representing Norway, aiming to create a truly memorable Viking game.
