Hazelight Games has announced that its latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, is continuing its stellar performance after selling an impressive 2 million copies within just one week of its release. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly established itself as another triumph for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

The studio previously reported that Split Fiction achieved 1 million sales in the first 48 hours following its debut, showcasing the rapid popularity of Mio and Zoe's sci-fi narrative. This means an additional million copies were sold in the subsequent five days, further solidifying its success.

As a cooperative game, Split Fiction likely boasts a player base significantly larger than its sales figures suggest, thanks to its innovative Friend's Pass feature. This feature allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play for free, enhancing its reach and appeal within the gaming community. As buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the 2 million sales figure is expected to climb even higher.

Hazelight's previous title, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory of success. It sold around 1 million copies shortly after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023, and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay experience.
