Spider-Man Star's Voice Still Unrecorded

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 25,2025

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has poured cold water on hopes for a swift release of the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse. He revealed he hasn't even begun recording his lines yet.

In an interview with Decider, Jerome stated that production on the presumed final film hasn't commenced, with several aspects still "being figured out." This delay isn't entirely unexpected, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things are being figured out, but good things."

53 ImagesWhile Jerome's role in the second film was relatively minor, his part in the third is expected to be significantly larger. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He's poised to portray the main antagonist. Jerome plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who appears at the film's conclusion, not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

This Miles's journey diverged drastically from the protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for the main Miles instead bit this alternate version. Consequently, Miles G. Morales didn't become Spider-Man. After the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, and he joined their ranks.

The unfolding of this storyline, and its collision with the main Miles's journey as Spider-Man, will likely be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans face a considerable wait. Deadline suggests a 2026 release at the earliest, although maintaining the previous film's release schedule would push it to 2028.
