Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is celebrating its first anniversary the way any Ultramarine would: with massive firepower and fresh waves of Chaos to obliterate. Here’s everything Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have confirmed about the upcoming update.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 nears its one-year milestone, yet the Emperor’s crusade continues unabated. Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment confirm the co-op shooter is expanding further, with a "large-scale update" scheduled for September and another full year of free and premium content already confirmed. This shift comes as much of the content originally planned for Update 9 has moved to Update 10, leaving Update 9 to focus predominantly on balancing.

In a recent Steam community post, Saber and Focus outlined their roadmap, preparing to support Space Marine 2 well into 2026. "We’re thrilled to announce a second year of both free and DLC content, featured in a brand-new annual season pass!" the studio stated. "Look forward to new PvE missions, enemies, weapons, and... even more."

That "more" seems to carry significant weight. Despite development on Space Marine 3 having officially begun, the developers' hints in their announcement suggest they intend to honor their commitment to ongoing support for Space Marine 2, though numerous specifics remain under wraps.

The forthcoming 10.0 update, planned for September, stands as the centerpiece of the anniversary festivities and promises a wealth of new content. A PvP mode is one of the headline additions, though fans will need to wait a bit longer. Originally scheduled for the summer’s 9.0 update, the mode has been pushed to September.

Though Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment haven’t revealed every detail, the new mode will apparently pit Chaos forces against each other on an all-new map, moving away from the standard "Loyalist VS Chaos" format seen in regular PvP. Players will also gain control of the Helbrute, one of the game’s boss enemies, alongside "new Chaos armor sets" and the Power Axe—complete with its own combat moves and execution animations. So far, only a work-in-progress model of the weapon has been shown.

Also on the way is a new playable class: the Techmarine. While Saber and Focus are keeping details under wraps for now, this class—known in Warhammer 40k lore as the engineers and battlefield technicians of the Adeptus Astartes—is expected to specialize in repairing machinery and reinforcing defenses during combat.

The studio confirmed that the Techmarine will be available in both PvE and PvP modes. Keen players can look forward to more information in future community updates, expected in late July and August as development accelerates toward the major September release.

Looking further ahead, players can anticipate a consistent flow of new content throughout Year 2. The new season pass will offer a mix of free updates and premium DLC, building on the framework Saber established during the game’s first year.

While no specific release date has been set for Update 9.0, the studio indicates it will arrive this summer. Additional details about the 10.0 update, the Chaos PvP mode, and the Techmarine class are likely to surface in community posts throughout July and August.
