Author:Kristen Update:May 04,2025

The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park has officially announced the return of Season 27, and it appears our favorite crew from Colorado is tackling the state of things in their signature, barely coping style.

The beloved animated series has released a new trailer that initially tricks viewers into thinking they're getting a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music set an ominous tone, only to be hilariously subverted when Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appear on-screen. Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster visible in the background.

South Park Season 27 Trailer

South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the gag in the trailer, the visuals shift back to intense action, hinting at several big and topical moments for the upcoming season. Expect to see major plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a P. Diddy appearance, and yet another war with Canada. Fans of the show, or those familiar with the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.

The teaser also confirms that the new season will air on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has treated fans to three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.

South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having debuted on Comedy Central to near-instant acclaim back in 1997. With its sharp wit and fearless approach to current events, the show continues to be a cultural phenomenon.
