Smite 2's Open Beta Launches with New God, Game Mode, and More

Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, has launched its free-to-play open beta across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Steam Deck. This release coincides with a significant content update from Titan Forge Games.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Smite 2 boasts enhanced visuals and refined combat mechanics compared to its predecessor. A revamped item shop offers greater flexibility, allowing players to equip items irrespective of their chosen god's classification. The core gameplay remains familiar: players select gods from diverse mythologies and engage in 5v5 battles.

This open beta introduces a wealth of new content:

• Aladdin: A brand-new god, designed specifically for Smite 2, with unique wall-running and revival abilities.
• Five New Gods: In addition to Aladdin, Geb (Egyptian), Mulan (Chinese), Agni (Hindu), and Ullr (Norse) join the roster.
• Joust's Return: The beloved 3v3 mode makes a comeback.
• New Map: An Arthurian-themed map provides a fresh battleground.
• Conquest & Assault Updates: The Conquest map receives updates, and an alpha version of the Assault game mode is included.
• God Aspects: Optional enhancements for select gods add strategic depth.

The open beta also features improvements to the Conquest map and an alpha version of the Assault game mode. Titan Forge Games has expressed confidence in Smite 2's superiority over its predecessor, crediting player feedback from the closed alpha for shaping the open beta experience. Ambitious content updates are promised for 2025.

While available on major platforms, Smite 2 is currently absent from the Nintendo Switch due to performance concerns. However, the developers remain open to a potential release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
