Unveiling the New Trailer

The March 13, 2025 Silent Hill Transmission offered fans a deeper look at Silent Hill f, including a captivating new trailer. Unlike its predecessors, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan.

The game's narrative centers on Shimizu Hinako, an ordinary teenager whose life takes a terrifying turn when her town is enveloped in a mysterious fog, undergoing a horrifying transformation. Hinako must navigate this unrecognizable landscape, solving puzzles, battling strange creatures, and ultimately confronting a deeply unsettling choice. This is a story about a beautiful, yet terrifying decision.

Silent Hill f is set in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by a real-life location in Kanayama, Gero, Gifu Prefecture. Developers meticulously recreated the town, capturing its intricate alleyways using reference photos, ambient sounds from the area, and historical materials to accurately depict the 1960s setting.

Finding Beauty in Terror

According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, the core concept behind Silent Hill f is to "find the beauty in terror." While retaining the series' signature psychological horror, the team aimed to explore the unique nuances of Japanese horror within a Japanese setting.

Okamoto explains, "Japanese horror often presents terror within beauty. Something excessively beautiful and perfect can become deeply unsettling. Players will experience this through the eyes of a young girl facing a beautiful yet terrifying decision."

A Standalone Silent Hill Story

Okamoto emphasizes that Silent Hill f is a self-contained story, accessible to newcomers. Long-time fans, however, can expect subtle easter eggs. The game's writer, Ryukishi07 (renowned for his psychological horror visual novels), brings his unique style to the Silent Hill universe.

A long-time fan of the series, Ryukishi07 highlights the challenge of creating a Silent Hill game outside the familiar titular town. He states, "From a creator's perspective, I'm confident this is a Silent Hill game. However, we're eager to hear feedback from long-time fans to see if they agree."

Silent Hill f is now available to wishlist on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A release date is yet to be announced. For the latest updates on Silent Hill f, check out our related article!
