"Silent Hill f: A Fresh Start for New and Old Fans, Says Konami"

Author:Kristen Update:May 26,2025

Silent Hill f is a fresh addition to the iconic Silent Hill series, promising a standalone narrative experience much like its predecessor Silent Hill 2. Publisher Konami has officially declared on X/Twitter that this latest installment will be a "completely new title," designed to be accessible and enjoyable even for newcomers to the series.

While it's true that Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins share a connected storyline, other entries such as Silent Hill 2 have ventured into more standalone territories. Even Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming have explored settings beyond the familiar foggy town. Konami's recent statement assures fans that Silent Hill f's setting in 1960s Japan will not require prior knowledge of the series, making it a welcoming entry point for all.

Set in the cultural backdrop of 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f introduces us to Shimizu Hinako, a young protagonist grappling with societal and familial pressures. The narrative, penned by Ryukishi07, known for the When They Cry series, promises a unique horror experience. The Japanese-language reveal trailer from March highlighted that this game marks a milestone as the first Silent Hill game to receive an 18+ rating certification in Japan.

Although the game remains in development and ratings may shift, Silent Hill f has already secured mature ratings across the board: Mature in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan. This contrasts with previous entries like Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room, which received CERO:C ratings for ages 15 and up, while other international titles were rated CERO:C or CERO:D for ages 17+.

As of now, no release date has been announced for Silent Hill f. Additionally, there's still no new information regarding No Code's upcoming project within the Silent Hill universe, Townfall.
