RGG Studio, renowned for its work on the Like a Dragon series, is currently juggling several major projects. Alongside the anticipated next Like a Dragon game and a Virtua Fighter remake set for 2025, they've announced two more exciting titles. Masayoshi Yokoyama, the head and director of RGG Studio, credits Sega's willingness to embrace risk as the driving force behind these endeavors.

In December, RGG Studio released trailers for two distinct projects within the same week. At The Game Awards 2025, they introduced Project Century, a fresh IP set in 1915 Japan. The following day, Sega's official channel unveiled a trailer for a new Virtua Fighter Project, separate from the upcoming Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O remaster. Both projects showcase the studio's commitment to large-scale, ambitious productions. With a portfolio of renowned IPs, Sega's confidence in RGG Studio's ability to deliver is evident, reflecting a blend of trust and a daring approach to innovation.

Yokoyama shared his thoughts with Famitsu, as translated by Automaton Media, "A positive trait of Sega is its willingness to accept the possibility of failure. They don't just stick to safe projects." He further remarked, "This might be in Sega's DNA." Reflecting on their early days with the Virtua Fighter IP, Sega sought new challenges, leading to the innovative idea of turning 'VF' into an RPG, which birthed the action-adventure series Shenmue.

Despite the challenge of working on multiple projects simultaneously, RGG Studio is committed to maintaining high standards, especially for the Virtua Fighter series. Yu Suzuki, the creator of the IP, has expressed his support for the new project. Yokoyama, along with Virtua Fighter Project producer Riichiro Yamada and their team, are determined to deliver a product that is anything but half-baked.

Yamada added, "With the new 'VF,' we aim to create something innovative that a broad audience will find 'cool and interesting!' Whether you're a fan of the series or not, we hope you'll keep an eye out for more updates. Stay tuned!" Yokoyama echoed this sentiment, encouraging gamers to look forward to both titles.
