Sega's Sonic Rumble Update Prompts Delay

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 11,2025
  • The global release of Sonic Rumble is slightly delayed
  • Sega is rolling out the version 1.2 update packed with extensive new features
  • A Q&A session will take place on Discord

Following an eye-catching pre-launch crossover event starring Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other beloved Sega franchises, Sonic Rumble's worldwide launch has been postponed for now. Originally preparing for its full release after surpassing 1.4 million pre-registrations, the multiplayer battle royale title is being temporarily held back by Sega.

The delay coincides with the team readying update 1.2, which aims to significantly refresh the toybox universe created by Dr. Eggman with innovative additions such as Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills. These new elements are designed to expand the core experience, offering players more compelling goals beyond the frenetic race for victory.

Rumble Rankings will enable you to ascend seasonal leaderboards and earn rewards, while Crews let you team up with friends to accomplish score-based missions. Additionally, the new Skills system equips characters with unique abilities, introducing a fresh strategic layer to matches.

Rather than hastily implementing these features post-launch, Sega decided to postpone the release to ensure everything is properly polished. Rest assured, a Q&A session is scheduled for May 2nd on Discord, where players can learn about future plans and submit their questions.

This postponement doesn’t undermine the existing excitement for the game. All pre-registration incentives remain secured, including 5,000 Rings, a Crystal Chao Buddy, the Happy Sticker, the Garnet Knuckles outfit, and the stylish Movie Sonic skin unlocked by reaching the 1.4 million pre-registration milestone. When the game eventually launches, you'll begin with a generous head start.

With the new release window, you can still pre-register for Sonic Rumble by selecting your preferred platform below. The game will be free-to-play and include optional in-app purchases. For further details, visit the official website.
