Author:Kristen Update:Jun 16,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never seen an official discount, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still score a great deal. Amazon Resale—formerly known as Amazon Warehouse—currently offers the **Used: Like New** version of the PS Portal for just **$156.02**, saving you over **$43 (around 22%)** off the standard retail price of $199. While it’s used, these units are described as looking and functioning like new, with only minor packaging damage noted during inspection. Keep in mind that while a Sony warranty may not be included, Amazon Resale items still come with the same **30-day return policy** as new purchases. Given the popularity of this product, we expect these listings to sell out quickly.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony's dedicated handheld device designed to work with your PS5 console. It resembles a split-pad DualSense controller with an integrated 8-inch 1080p LCD screen right in the center. This allows you to stream your PS5 games at up to 60fps, turning your console into a portable gaming experience. The device replicates all the features of the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface replacing the traditional touchpad.

While originally limited to streaming from a local PS5, Sony recently updated the functionality to allow access via PlayStation Now cloud streaming. That means you no longer need a PS5 to use the Portal—just a stable internet connection and a subscription to the top tier of PlayStation Plus (currently $18/month). With access to more than 120 titles, including Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, this opens up a wide variety of gameplay options without needing a separate console.

Keep in mind, however, that while other devices such as the Steam Deck or mobile phones can also run the PS Remote Play app, the Portal delivers a much smoother and more integrated experience. Setup is easier, and you won't miss out on key DualSense features like haptics or adaptive triggers.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

“The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after going in loaded with skepticism. It's such a better experience than using your phone with a slap-on controller, and it works so much better than I was anticipating. I really love the freedom it gives me to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when the rest of my family was using the TV to (somewhat ironically) play the Switch. Bearing in mind that it’s in no way a stand-alone device and 100% requires a PlayStation 5 to function at all, the biggest things keeping the Portal from being a truly amazing device are its current lack of a way to access WiFi that requires a web browser to log in, and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. For now, it's a great device that represents the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play, and if it weren't for those two baffling caveats, I'd call this a must-own device for every PS5 owner who enjoys playing games on handheld—or has to compete for the household TV.”
