Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Debuts Ultra-Thin Design

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 06,2026

Samsung unveiled its flagship Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone at the May Unpacked event, introducing a sleeker alternative to the standard Galaxy S25 released earlier in 2025. The refined design gives this model a distinct advantage.

On paper, the Galaxy S25 Edge shares nearly identical specifications with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and advanced 200MP camera system. However, Samsung engineers achieved an impressive 5.8mm profile - significantly thinner than the Ultra's 8.2mm frame - while reducing the weight to just 163g.

The device retains the premium 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display from the standard Galaxy S25, despite matching the technical capabilities of the larger 6.9-inch Ultra model.

Such thin construction naturally raises durability questions. Samsung counters these concerns with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection - reportedly more resilient than the Ultra's Gorilla Glass Armor 2. Still, potential bending from pocket pressure remains a valid consideration for consumers.

The Galaxy S25 Edge inherits Samsung's evolving "Mobile AI" ecosystem, first introduced with the S24 series and enhanced throughout 2025. While the Snapdragon chip handles many AI tasks locally for improved privacy, some cloud-dependent applications remain. Notable features include intelligent notification summaries and news article condensation.

Preorders begin immediately, priced at $1,099 for the 256GB version and $1,219 for 512GB storage capacity. Three sophisticated titanium finishes are available: Silver, Jet Black, and Icyblue.

Samsung makes bold durability claims for its ultra-slim flagship - consumers will ultimately determine their validity.
