Relic Entertainment Announces Earth vs. Mars Game

Author:Kristen Update:May 05,2025

Relic Entertainment, the renowned developer behind the acclaimed Company of Heroes series, is set to launch an exciting new venture this Summer on PC via Steam. Their latest project, Earth vs. Mars, is a turn-based strategy game that introduces a unique twist on gameplay, drawing inspiration from the beloved Nintendo DS classic, Advance Wars. In this smaller-scale strategy game, players are tasked with defending Earth against a full-scale Martian invasion using an innovative tool known as the Splice-O-Tron. This device allows players to create "bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids" such as the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly, bringing a fresh and imaginative approach to combat.

According to Relic, the narrative of Earth vs. Mars unfolds with a backdrop of decades-long Martian reconnaissance on Earth, where aliens have been abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, the Martians have returned, launching a full-scale invasion. Players will take on the role of a ragtag group of commanders leading Earth's resistance, battling against high-tech Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors in a desperate fight for survival.

Earth vs. Mars promises a rich gaming experience with a 30+ mission single-player campaign, online multiplayer where players can choose to fight as either Earth or Mars, a VS Mode to test your skills against the game's AI, and a map editor for those who love to customize their gameplay.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, "We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the Advance Wars style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles." He also highlighted Relic's new strategy, which involves not only continuing to develop traditional RTS titles but also venturing into smaller Indie-style games. This approach aims to explore new sub-genres, foster creativity, and enable more frequent game releases.

If Earth vs. Mars piques your interest, you can now wishlist it on Steam to stay updated on its release and further developments.
