Razer Gaming Laptop Pulled Due to Trump's Tariffs on PC Hardware

Author:Kristen Update:May 28,2025

The import tariffs introduced by U.S. President Trump are once again creating ripples in the gaming community, this time hitting Razer's highly anticipated Blade 16 gaming laptop. These tariffs, essentially taxes levied on imported goods, usually end up being absorbed by consumers rather than the companies along the supply chain. Unfortunately for gamers, this means rising prices, particularly for tech and gaming products.

In a recent development, the Blade 16, which had been available for purchase in the U.S. as recently as April 1, has vanished from Razer's U.S. website. While European gamers can still place orders (though availability is limited in the UK), the U.S. site offers only a "Notify Me" button for updates, with no pricing details displayed. Clicking the "Buy Now" button leads to a 404 error page.

Razer isn’t alone in this predicament. Other companies, such as Micron, a major memory manufacturer, have expressed concerns over potential surcharges due to tariffs on Chinese and Taiwanese components. This has prompted PC maker Framework to temporarily halt some U.S. sales altogether.

This tariff-induced disruption extends beyond Razer. Last week, the pre-order date for the Nintendo Switch 2, originally set for April 9, was removed from the U.S. market. The ripple effect soon crossed borders, with Nintendo Canada confirming a delay in pre-orders there as well. Analysts and Nintendo fans are now speculating whether the company will increase the price of the Switch 2 and its games in response to these economic pressures, despite recent backlash over pricing following the console’s announcement.
