PS5 Price Rises Again in Europe, Australia, New Zealand

Author:Kristen Update:May 03,2025

Sony has announced an increase in the recommended retail prices (RRPs) for PlayStation 5 consoles in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. The decision comes in response to "a challenging economic environment, including high inflation and fluctuating exchange rates," as stated by the company. This news was officially shared through a post on the PlayStation Blog.

The new RRPs will take effect from April 14. In Europe, the PS5 Digital Edition will now cost €500, while the price of the standard PS5 with a disc drive remains unchanged. In the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition will be priced at £430, with no change for the standard version. Australian gamers will see the standard PS5 with a disc drive at AUD $830 and the PS5 Digital Edition at AUD $750. In New Zealand, the standard PS5 with a disc drive will be priced at NZD $950, and the PS5 Digital Edition at NZD $860. Notably, the price of the PS5 Pro remains unchanged.

This follows similar RRP increases in 2022, making the PS5 significantly more expensive in many regions compared to its launch prices. In Europe and the UK, the PS5 Digital Edition is now €100/£70 more than its initial price of €400/£360. In Australia, the standard PS5 has increased by AUD $80 from its launch price of AUD $750, and the digital edition has risen by AUD $150 from AUD $600. New Zealand sees the standard PS5 up by NZD $130 from NZD $820, and the digital version increased by NZD $210 from NZD $650.

However, there's a silver lining for those interested in the PS5 disc drive, as its RRP is set to decrease to €80/£70/AUD $125/NZD $140.
